TCP is a mild, aqueous liquid antiseptic and it gets its name from its original chemical name, Trichlorophenylmethyliodosalicyl, although this has not been used as the active ingredient since the 1950's.

TCP Antiseptic Liquid has a number of uses. It fights infection and eases pain, and can be used for conditions including:

Sore Throats - the liquid can be diluted one part TCP with 5 parts water and gargled to relieve symptoms of a sore throat

Mouth Ulcers - Apply undiluted to mouth ulcers three times a day

Boils, Spots and Pimples - Apply undiluted every 4 hours using a cotton bud or cotton wool

Cuts, Grazes, Bites and Stings - Dilute one part TCP liquid with one part water and apply as necessary

Do not use if you have an allergic skin condition or are sensitive to the active ingredients. If you swallow large amounts, drink plenty of water. If still unwell see your doctor. In normal use you should not suffer unwanted side effects. However, if you notice anything unusual, talk to your doctor/pharmacist. Seek medical advice is symptoms persist for more than a few days.

Simply gargle twice a day with TCP diluted with 5 parts water. DO NOT SWALLOW. Mouth Ulcers. To ease the discomfort of common mouth ulcers, dab undiluted three times a day. Should symptoms persist for more than fourteen days, consult your doctor or dentist. Cuts, Grazes, Bites, Stings. Dilute with an equal quantity of water and apply freely.

In emergencies may be used undiluted. Boils, Spots, Pimples. Dab lightly, undiluted, every four hours and do not cover. Do not use after expiry date.
